Dear Internet:
I must share something amazing with you.
What if I told you that there was a magical tool that allowed you to copy anything you want from the web and add it to your own collection of searchable, viewable “notes”?
Anything - pictures, quotes, the header to a webpage you liked - could be added, just by highlighting the text and pictures you want to capture, and clicking on a little button on your browser.
I have tried so many things like this, Del.i.cious, Google Notebook, etc. that I have never really enjoyed…Del.i.cious was too dependent on tags, Notebook was soooo boring. But I have found a replacement.
Allow me to introduce you to Evernote. We are very much in love.
Here is a screenshot of my Evernote:
Ok, so I have issues with my images here. Click on the picture for a bigger view.
Basically, Evernote creates these little “notes” with whatever you had selected on the webpage, and it automatically saves the link too!
I always have 100+ tabs open in my Firefox browser, all things that I want to remember but don’t need right now. That’s bad for you! Well, not anymore…I have dumped the contents of my browsers both at home and work into Evernote. That’s right - it automatically syncs your account from multiple computers!
You can even update from your mobile device!
And here’s the best part: see that search bar at the top of Evernote? Well, you can search for any text in the note including handwriting and fonts embedded in an image.
Wow.
Of course, there is a premium account, but as you can see, I have not even made a dent in my monthly allowance yet.
You can also organize your notes into categories and such. I haven’t done this yet, but I am also still calling it EverQuest on accident, which is apparantly some kind of nerd game. Nathan doesn’t like this, since he of course is a much cooler nerd than those loosers who play MMORPGs.
