Daily Outfit 07/25/2009 With Sophie!

This is what I wore to go to the duck pond!

I have a question: are pointy pumps still “cool” to wear? I really love them, but I never see anyone wear them anymore. Do they go well with this outfit? I’m still in the infancy stages of shoe knowledge, so any advice would be nice.

Embroidered Mexican shirt

White eyelet skirt, from Target

Belt, JNY, thrifted

Blue alligator pumps, from Nine West

Blue hair flower, from Claire’s

Costume Time!

I’m getting together all of my outfits for Burning Man! I had so much fun taking these pictures…I can’t WAIT ’til we’re out there! On the other hand…well, I don’t see why I’m not wearing these outfits more often. I think I need to step it up a notch!

We stopped by a thrift store today, and I picked up this pretty little slip. It’s EXACTLY what I needed.

I’m thinking I should shorten the hem on this black velvet dress. Also: return of The Bear Hat!

What do you think of this flight attendant dress? I think a little hem shortening would help this as well. It’s super cute though!

THIS DRESS JUST WILL NOT ZIP UP! It’s so frustrating! I think I will cut the black velvet top off and use the skirt…it’s too pretty to leave behind!

Gold dress! I love you gold dress! Check out my sweet mask, too! This is what I happened to be wearing when our neighbors came to tell us A TREE HAD FALLEN ONTO OUR CAR. So I was all running around the parking lot in my bare feet and a gold party dress. Pretty smooth.

I think I should post some more costumes soon!

Daily Outfit 07/19/2009

We went back to Burleson today to take down The Domeā„¢ and I wore this shiny number. Oh, and I also got my hair cut. I’m not positive I love it; the cut is not very good quality, but that is my fault since I went to Super Cuts. It was tempted by the idea of a 13 dollar hair cut, but I made the mistake of asking her to style it, and got charged THIRTY-EIGHT DOLLARS. I was in such a state of shock that I didn’t even ask why. But I think it has potential.

I wore:

Blue shiny sequined disco shirt, LOVE. I did leave a trail of sequins everywhere.

Denim shorts, Wet Seal. So glad I got these, I have worn them nearly every day this summer.

Slouchy leather boots (yes they’re back!) I’ve lost weight so now I can fold the tops down!

Black bag, thrifted

Peacock feather earrings, gifted

Standard silver ring collection

Daily Outfit 7/15/2009

This is what I wore to go see the bats fly from under the Congress Street bridge, in downtown Austin. And to see Harry Potter! YAY!

Gold mesh bag: thrifted

Black patent heels: Target

Shirt: Go International by Target

Ruffled skirt: Lulu Wang. This is my favorite skirt ever. The end.

Daily Outfit 06/15/2009

This is what I wore today. I curled my hair! I somehow never had the time to primp as a backpacker…it’s nice to be back home with all of my curling and straightening devices!

White front pleated silk shirt, thrifted

The shortest denim shorts I have ever owned(!), from Wet Seal

Crazy patchwork bag, from Mexico (LOVE this bag)

Sunglasses, from Wet Seal

Jade necklace, from Vietnamese lady

Gold vintage locket, from Nathan

Coral bracelet, rings and sash, from Mexico

Leather sandals, from Mexico (I honestly have no other shoes with me right now)

Can you spot the ghostly figure of the girl in the reflection, waving to you? Her eye is all squinched up, because that is how she takes pictures. For some reason.

I am getting SO much better at throwing new outfits together. It’s all thanks to my ever-lessening desire for things to match. (As evidenced by my last outfit.)

I’m thinking, as long as you have a color scheme where your colors are complimentary, pile on the patterns, textures and jewelry! Let’s see if this continues to be a good thing.

Daily Outfit 06/14/2009 Pink And Purple Silk

I love silk. Silk is my new fabric of choice for summer, especially for swelteringly hot Texas summer days, when the thermometer in the house says 90 degrees and it’s only just June.

Here I am wearing:

Multi-layered silk sari skirt, from Earthbound Trading Company

Pink and purple peony silk shirt, from Ann Taylor

Leather sandals, from Mexico

Sunglasses, from Wet Seal

Random bracelets

Acid Trippin’!

Thrift Gloat

Another trip to our favorite thrift store yielded, as usual, some great finds. I must begin with this blue dress.

Polyester. Zipper. Shoulder pads. Primary color. Boxy sleeves. Check, check, and check. And yet, somehow, despite all of these horrific 80’s trademarks, this dress attains Epic status. Behold.

The silhouette! It is divine, no? LOVE LOVE LOVE. Although I wish I knew the label! Someone must have found it scratchy.

The brown coat. Made of a strange fabric not unlike felt. Very warm. This coat has a great shape as well. I love cool weather! (Exqueeze the bad shots, I need a battery for my remote.)

Closeup of the grey leather boots! I have A Knack for picking up shoes with no label. But they are lovely boots, elephantine in their greyness. (Did you know, I hate the spelling “gray”? I do.)

Oh, and guess what:

I paid 1.00 for each of these pretties. ‘Cause that’s how Jueves rolls.

Daily Outfit 06/05/2009

New hair pictures! I diluted my Special Effects Atomic Pink color with a LOT of conditioner, and got this great color. It’s a more true pink than the wild fuchsia of straight up Atomic Pink.

Also, an example of what I am wearing these days. It’s a lot more casual than what I was into before we left on our backpacking trip, but my gosh, it’s also a lot more comfortable.

Black jumpsuit/romper: Target

Silk teal cami: thrifted

Ethnic sash: Mexico

Shoes: huaraches from Mexico

Feather earrings: made by me!

I Am A Pirate Gangster

I got my lip pierced a few days ago. My lip got quite swollen, and while it looked really nice with lip gloss and made me feel very Victoria’s Secret-y, it was actually quite painful to eat, or kiss, or whatever. But it’s all back to normal now, so here is a piratey picture of me in our lovely guest bedroom (courtesy of the lovely brother & sister-in-law). The Jolly Roger is keeping me company in the background.
