All travel will be by bus, unless we have to rent a car occasionally to get to a really sweet place. Will be staying at hostels or camping.
Here are our tentative plans:
First day of travel is the day Nathan and I first met in 2005! Valentine’s Day!
February 14: Leave from either Fort Worth or Victoria to Mexico City, stay for a week or so
February 20: Leave from Mexico City to ? for Carnival, stay for 4 days. Help! I don’t know where to go! Somewhere small but with a sweet festival, since the massive shindigs at Mazatlan and Veracruz aren’t for us.
February 25: Leave where ever we go for Carnival for Oaxaca City, stay for a few days
March 1: Leave Oaxaca City for Puerto Angel, stay indefinitely and lounge on the beach
After Puerto Angel/Puerto Escondido/Zipolite, will explore Chiapas, Palenque and the jungle, possibly Guatemala and Belize, and then plan to head back towards mainland Mexico and visit San Miguel de Allende, Real de Catorce, Zacatecas, etc.
