This, my friends, may possibly be my best thrift find yet. You may remember my 1950’s Dubrowsky & Joseph faux fur that I found at Night of Joy vintage. It cost me around $60.00, which seemed like a great deal, especially since it quickly became one of my most prized possessions.

We were at Thrift Town on Jacksboro Highway last weekend, and I found this lovely. People, it is the spitting image of my Dubrowsky & Joseph. It is a slightly different cut and a different color, but everything else is the same, down to the tags and lining. I don’t know what year it’s from though. Anyone know a good way to tell?

And, since Thrift Town so generously has a $10.00 punch card for each $200.00 you spend, and I happened to have a full one, this coat cost me $8.00.

I think it really may be the best find yet!

Also featuring:

  • Purple velvet skirt, New York Company, thrifted
  • Brown leather belt with freakishly large gold buckle, Jones New York, thrifted
  • Black slouchy leather boots, no label, thrifted
  • Amber and gold earrings, gifted
  • Black tee, Target
  • And OMG, the first snow! Well, technically it’s not snow. It just sleeted a whole buttload last night, but I can pretend!

Thrift Score

Remember last week when I mentioned my favorite thrift store, Jueves? Well, it’s not really called that, but Thursday is the best day to go, and Jueves is Spanish for Thursday…brushing up on my language skillz, yo.

Anyway, we went again a few days ago, and I scored this gorgeous purse for a dollar:

It’s made of dark brown leather which has a beautiful sheen, even though it is visibly worn, a heavy gold chain handle, and a gold lion head on the front!

It took me forever (ok, like 10 minutes) to figure out what the lining said so I could correctly identify the label. It’s by Ruth Saltz, and I can’t find much about her online, but it appears that she was a handbag designer in the 70’s.

I love the gold lion head (which seems to be her signature), and the gold chain handle. The reason it stood out to me in the first place was the quality of the metal chain; it hasn’t tarnished at all!

My new favorite bag!
